Refuge Long Beach held the Vision Sunday Workshop with the entire church on Sunday, August 25!

What is Vision Sunday?

Simple. Vision Sunday is when we meet together - as a church - and express our burdens for our community, the people we want to reach, how the Lord has gifted us to reach them, and our dreams for Long Beach.

Check out what the Lord has given us at Refuge Long Beach:

Our Burdens

What breaks the heart of our church? Here is what we wrote down...

These are some of our burdens:

  • Help those addicted to drugs and alcohol.
  • Discipleship / mentorship in the church.
  • Help the homeless.
  • Reach the marginalized.
  • Reach the gay and LGBTQ community.
  • Establish a mid-week service.
  • Reach the lost.
  • Help the oppressed.
  • Help those caught up in human trafficking.
  • Help juveniles who are in trouble.
  • Help those who are broken and at the end of their rope.
  • Help struggling families, single moms and children.
  • Work towards racial reconciliation.
  • Help those facing deportation issues.
  • Love/encourage those who feel they have no purpose.
  • Reach teens (Jr. High, High School) and young people.

Has God put a burden on your heart for the city of Long Beach? We would love to hear it. Drop us a line

"Cast your burden on the LORD, and He will sustain you" - Psalm 55:22

People We Want to Reach

We all have people in our lives we want to reach with the love of Jesus.

Here are a few people the Lord has put on our hearts:

  • The homeless and hungry.
  • People in jail or prison.
  • Those who isolate themselves in shame.
  • Homeless women with children.
  • Youth (Jr. High, High School, College) - young people.
  • Those suffering with depression and anxiety.
  • The disgruntled, and those in poverty.
  • Young families in the community.
  • Single Parent Families.
  • The LGBTQ community.
  • People from other religions.
  • Children in loveless situations.
  • People trying to 'work' their way to heaven with good works.
  • The unborn (those being considered for abortion).
  • The homeless.
  • Lost souls.
  • Christians who don't know their Bibles.
  • Drug and alcohol addicts.
  • People from other countries.
  • Unsaved family members.

Our Dreams

We asked the question, 'If Refuge Long Beach had unlimited resources, what would you like to see the church do?'

No dream is too big or too small! We serve a BIG God! Here are our dreams:

  • Have a permanent building for outreach and giving to the Community.
  •  Translate 'Through the Word' into every language.
  •  Be fully dedicated to serving our youth.
  •  Be an authentic worshipping community.
  •  Start a 12-step program.
  •  More one-on-one discipleship.
  •  To be a church constantly reaching out to our community.
  •  Start a mid-week service to reach more people in Long Beach.
  •  Be a resource center for youth to come at all hours of the day.
  •  Give those around us more love, grace, and hope.
  •  Have ample funds to evangelize the entire neighborhood.
  •  Begin a men's home, and a women's home for those struggling.
  •  Teach children to love, give and help them grow.
  •  Create an automotive helps ministry for those in need.

Do you have a dream? Would love to hear it!

"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think..." - Ephesians 3:20

Now what?

Stay tuned as we continue to pray as a church over our burdens, people, gifts, and dreams, and see where the Lord takes us.

Thank you for joining us on this awesome journey of reaching the lost in Long Beach!
